Early in the morning, wake up and hurry up to the Victory Monument to catch the first van. We are on the way to Trat, an easternmost province of Thailand. I and my colleague was deciding whether we should go to Koh Kood or Koh Mak since Koh Kood is more popular, at least in my thought, and Koh Mak is more private and quiet. However, either we stay on any island, we snorkel at the same place. So, we decided to chill out on Koh Mak. It's been about 4 hours till we arrived in Trat. We took a local bus for another hour to Laem Ngob Pier. It's almost noon and our boat will arrive about 2 pm if it doesn't stuck in bad weather. We got plenty of time and it's pretty crowded here so we decide to have lunch, at least we got some place to rest.
It's quite cloudy but a bit hot. The boat arrived a little late. Luckily we came early so we got a better seat instead of at the back of the boat. We can see it's raining far away and I hope we won't have to go through it. High tide and we tried to sleep. Finally, we arrived at Koh Mak safe and sound. Look at my watch, it's been about an hour riding the waves. I can see everyone looks so tired and me too. We wait for the resort van to pick us up and I was stunned. Our resort van is so unique and look playful as its name, Monkey Island Resort.
Doubtlessly, we all head to shower and throw ourselves onto the bed. An hour or two later, someone knock on the door... the sea is calling us. The sun still shine so bright but we still spend rest of the day in the sea. And that circle pool is not just a decoration, we jump into it just like a kid. The smell of grilled corn pull us out of the pool to have a shower and hurried back for dinner. We spend a while sitting, relaxing at the pool bar, grab a bottle of beer, watch the fireflies dancing and decided that we should go to bed early today.
Wake up another morning and realized that today will be a very long day. We head to the bar for breakfast and the resort's van will take us to another pier for snorkel trip. Normally, we take speed boat or long-tail boat for snorkeling but this is the big one. I'm a little disappointed myself that I enjoy snorkeling so much to forgot to photograph. It's a clear blue sea but a little high wave. The sea is really crowded with people from nearby island. The boatman take very good care for all of us. The living thing underneath is worth tiring for. A school of thousands of small fish reflect the sunlight as if there are small pieces of diamond in the sea. Many kind of beautiful fish can be seen and also lots of Black Urchin too. After we snorkeling for about 3 or 4 islands, the rain is chasing us, telling us it's time to leave those living thing alone for now. We ride the waves back to the resort, enjoy the sunset, and doesn't forget to slide down into that little circle pool before we had seafood buffet for dinner this evening. We hang out late at pool bar tonight, relieve, listening to slow music and relax to the max.
We decided to take the first boat out of the island in the morning so that we came back home early to prepare ourselves before getting back to work on the other day. Saying goodbye to vacation is always hard for me but necessary. I believe we had gather enough energy to survive till next vacation.
Every trip always have an unforgettable moment. :)
